Re: exhaust ?

nothing is wrong with a muffler, as it is the most cost effective exhaust upgrade.

i just don't know what to say because it sounds like you bought a fart can, and it will need replaced when you get an SDS

Re: exhaust ?

well, technically if you plan on going SDS then you NEED a new set of tubular headers, shorties or long tube. I would say probably just go with some shorties because you can make up the extra power you would have gained from long tubes from boost (plus if you are boosting 6-8 pounds you wont notice the extra 5-10hp long tubes would give you versus the shorties). The fart can must go regardless if you go SDS or not...cat back systems with a decent tone are good, but strapping a muffler with a 30" tip on it is worse than insest (and yes the 30" is sarcasm...but its the simple fact that putting a Folgers Coffee can on your car doesnt make it cool in the slightest).

Other tips would be the obvious. Clutch and flywheel, LSD, motor mounts, short throw shifter and bushings, brakes (a must if you add power) and stainless lines, suspension, bigger tires (if you wanna go fast I wouldnt go more than 17" wheels because of the weight, but get fatter tires like a 235/245 or something, unless you go BBS or something lightweight), and if you wipe your ass with $100 bills then get a built bottom end for lower compression and more boost.

Re: exhaust ?

3'' is plenty big, even for turbo boost pressures.

Re: exhaust ?

If your happy with the sound then I would say it was a good buy....unless it sounds like these damn Honda's I'm surrounded by everyday I drive .

I personally would have recommended a good cat-back system but they can be on the pricey side. You will also want to get rid of that 2 1/4 in. piping if you go SDS on top of the other things that where mention. If you want to look into some cat-back systems I would recommend Invidia if your going SDS and the Greddy EvoII if your not going SDS.

Re: exhaust ?

Is this one of the ones you bought?
If so it's a 4" tip thats 5" long. Mesured from the end of tip to can.
Looks like either a 2.5" or 3" inlet. This alone on stock piping would sound nice. Wont have that fartcan sound. By the looks of it, I'd say nice find.
