Re: Replacing the 4g63 with the 4b11

I think that it should stay around. Its a great engine that is easy to modify and easy to find parts for. It can also handle around 450 hp without any internal mods. Its usually found for a good price too.

Re: Replacing the 4g63 with the 4b11

Ok, first, yes, the 4g63 is out. Yes, its (mostly) easy to tune and find parts for, as well as get in a crate. However, Mitsubishi is likely moving on because this design is quickly closing in on 20 years old (first gen. eclipse). And to answer the other questions, the 4g63 is a 2.0l I4 that (iirc) originally went into the first generation eclipse (and other dsm). It's always been an iron block. Now, I've actually heard that the 4b11 is a superior engine. Of course, that depends on your criteria. It's the engine going into the new Lancer (also 4b10, 1.8l 4b12 2.4l) (turbo for evo) and its cast aluminum. Anyway, I'm getting tired of typing, if you want to know more, you can bring up both on Wiki edit: 4g6 series is actually 24 years old already.
