1999 Intrigue with Problem Starting
I have a 99 Intrigue with the 3.5 and I am hoping somebody can help me diagnose an issue I have. Lately, it is tough to start. I have to crank on it for 5+ seconds to get the car to start. Also, once it does start, I often can smell gas. But once it is running, it doesn't give me any problems until I turn it off and have to start it again. My gut tells me it might be an issue with the fuel pressure regulator but I was hoping to get some other opinions before I go to the time and expense of replacing that.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: 1999 Intrigue with Problem Starting
Fuel Pressure Regulator would be my first guess.... Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and see if any fuel comes out. If so, the regulator is bad.

Re: 1999 Intrigue with Problem Starting
We had the same problem with our 99 Intrigue. The service engine light was on and we took it to O'reilly's and they did that check on it. The error code showed up the crank shaft sensor (approx $65) which my husband was able to replace himself. (I think the starter has to come off to put it on). Ever since the part was replaced, it has started up perfectly. Hope this helps!

Do you have a Service Engine Soon light on? If not, kmohr3's advice would be my suggestion as well.
