99+ mirror conversion problem
after an off roading trip in my 97 blazer, i lost a mirror. Every one knows how much the 95-97 mirrors are crap. So i went down to a junk yard and picked up a replacement passenger one,(im going to get the drivers in about a week). I know that the wiring and what not i have to do on my own.( oh yea there power)
I read this http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ghlight=mirror and it helped me out but didnt get me where i wanted to be What i have now these controll up and down and they work fine White to Red/White Blue to Black these do side to side, but are backwards, when i would switch them, they wouldnt work at all. Yellow to Purple/White Green to Yellow Now they do work, but the side to side is backwards and i still have an extra black left over, Im assuming that is for the defrost feature. Do i just run that extra black over to the defrost circuit? I went looking for a hayens and Chilton, but the only car store around here doesn't have one for my car, so if you guys could help me out that would be a big help Thanks

Right outside rear view mirror wire color and function:
1998 & older: Orange wire: Hot with key in ACC or RUN for defroster. 1999 & newer: Brown wire: Hot from rear defog relay. The remainder of the wires are the same for all years. Black: Ground for defroster Purple with white tracer: up down Yellow: Common Red with white tracer: left right |

Re: 99+ mirror conversion problem
Ok, thank you but im still a little unsure the matching.
What colors should i run the purple/white and red/white to on the existing harness? Than with the purple and red tied up, where does the yellow and the two black go? is there a differnce between the two blacks? I forgot to also say that all i had only power, no defrost. Id like to run a deforst wire and finding the wire to tap in to wont be a problem it si what color do i run the deforst line to?

Re: 99+ mirror conversion problem
The colors I posted are for the wires on the 99+ mirror. I realize your vehicle harness wires are different colors. If you check voltage on the wires in your vehicle and post your results, I can tell you which one to connect to what color. What I need:
With switch in tilt left position.. what color is hot With switch in tilt left position.. what color is ground With switch in tilt right position... what color is hot With switch in tilt right position... what color is ground With switch in tilt up position... What color is hot With switch in tilt up position... What color is ground With switch in tilt down... What color is hot With switch in tilt down... What color is ground It will also help if you can tell me all of the wire colors in your vehicle mirror harness at the mirror. |

Re: 99+ mirror conversion problem
That's correct, each function has a common wire that is used for ground in one direction and positive in the other. The defroster has it's own hot and ground. Lets get the mirrors working first, then I can tell you how to connect the defroster. If I had a reliable schematic, (not Chilton or Haynes) for 97 I could figure it out. I only have 98, 99 and 2000 readily available, that's why I need you to check voltage on each wire for each function.
