16g and stock internals

I am thinking of upgrading to evo 16g's. I just got done rebuilding my engine and it would be a waste of money to put new parts in it. So I would like to know if I would be okay putting 16g with my fresh stock engine?? Also did'nt Matt run his 9 sec. run on stock internals??

Yes matt did.. however matt has tunz and tunz of supporting modds... It all depends on what kind of engine management system you have.. It's all in the tune..

Re: 16g and stock internals

I was also looking at 19t's, because they are a lot cheaper than buying the td05 kit. What do everyone think about them?? Are they just as good as 16g or should I just spend the money on the evo turbos??

Re: 16g and stock internals

no td04 turbo is gonna compare to a td05. For the money the 19Ts are nice, (I think oohnoo hold the TD04 power record with them iirc) but if you can get ahold of adapter plates, it makes td05s alot cheaper. Regardless, it's just as easy to blow an engine with 19Ts as it is with 16Gs...as said above, it's all in the tune. The stock bottom end has been proven to do 700hp if the tune is right.

Re: 16g and stock internals

Where can I get a set of adapter plates from?? When I asked before people said that they were discontinued.

Re: 16g and stock internals

my vr4 is being fitted with 16g's right now, they were put on today actually. my motor has 111k on it with stock guts. it's going to be datalogged and tuned with an SAFCII at ~16 pounds with no problems. with your fresh motor it will love a set of 16g's. if you decide on the 16g's call jeff at IPS, i got the entire set up for 3 grand flat and i had them 4 days later.
