please help, drivetrain issues

my problem is sorta like the one in this post http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...=transfer+case
my problem at first was that my car just wouldnt move. i was driving it and it was making really loud noises from the transfer case, then all of a sudden it just stopped getting power and coasted to a stop. then it wouldnt go, so i had it towed home. then just today i started it, and it seemed fine, then i put it in reverse and it made a little bit of noise, but not bad, but it did move. then i put it in first and it actually started to move but very slowly and it made really loud noises. all these noises are coming from around the transfer case, cuz i had someone listen to it. i have read some posts and i was just going to get some more opinions before i go spending money.

What kind of noises is it making? Is it just the clutch worn out and slipping maybe?

My buddy has a very..-cough- manly Kia Sportage..-cough- and his transfer case blew out and I helped him replace it..same type of issues but on a larger scale..anywho , I pulled it apart to find all the gears to be basically raped into nothingness and tons of shrap metal inside...lack of proper lube I suspect.

Anywho , could be a few different things..clutch issues , pressure plate perhaps , who knows..you need to kinda get "inside" it to find out more.

You could drain the oil in the xcase to see if there are pieces of metal in it.

thanks blackcrow for fixin that. it is making kind of a high pitch grinding noise when i try to go forward or backward. it wasnt making noise when i put the clutch in and revved up the engine tho. i dont know exactly what a worn clutch feels like so im not sure about that. i did go to crysler and they said my t-case was recalled in 98. so you think i should drain the oil out of the transfer case and check for pieces of metal? i have a friend that owns and knows about dsm cars, but he didnt know exactly what it is and told me to search online. but he will help me try to fix it.

Shit bring that POS tcase and told chrysler to give u new one, Im about to bring my back again, I went thru 3 transfer case under 4000 miles.

Yes they also install it for free, first bring the car to them, and told them your transfer case leak, and its safety recall, it mean they gotta replace it, they will pull your car in and check for leak, if its leak or something wrong with it, they will order all the part that need, include new tcase , yoke and all the seal. and will arrange when you need to come back for install. After they put in new tcase, take it home, check for fluid ( first time they did mind, they only put 1 table spoon of fluid in it, I drain it out and flush it with new fluid, then put in redline heavy weight shock proof gear oil. )

The dealer will try anything to denise the recall, U GOT TO BE BITCHING ABOUT IT, SCARE THEM IF YOU HAVE ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE LOCK UP, YOU WILL BE BACK TO SUE THEM,,,,, SOME SHIT LIKE THAT, BE STRONG AND GOOD LUCK!!!!

ok i will try that. i have been to the chrysler and they said the recall was done before. then i talked to mistubishi about recalls and they told me to call another dealer and i did and they told me over the phone the same thing. i dont know what i would say to them, cuz my car doesnt drive right now, so i dont know how i could try and threaten them. lol

NEVER CALL THEM !! come in and talk to them, dont threat them, just sit down with the guy and talk, first you must read vfaqs.com to learn more about the recall, so you have ideal what the hell you are talking about when you in the dealer.

What the hell is wrong with calling them?

If there was a recall then there was a recall and the t-case will be covered by it. I know many members who have had this recall performed on their cars.

If the noise goes away when you push in the clutch then that could be pointing towards the t-case as being the problem, but it could also very well be something else in the driveline besides that. Of course it does seem to be a common problem so I would go ahead and at least have it replaced under the recall. That'll be your easiest and cheapest route first I would think.

If that isn't the problem then we can always go from there at troubleshooting.

Mabe its just my dealer around here, first I call them to check if the recall been done, they told me its and i cant get another one, I try to explaint the recall to them, seem like they dint care at all, they rely to me many time " sorry its nothing that we can do, because the recall has already been done !! ! until I show up at the dealer and talk to the head guy. I be strong with my word and thing went thru smoothly, im about to come back for another t-case ( I come last week after I find out it leak very very tiny, its not even note, but if I put my hand on the yoke seal, i saw very very tiny leak ), they told me when it leak alot bring it back here.
