I have some serious news I would like to pass on to prevent the same happening to anyone else. Please be aware that Western Union security is extremely poor. I made a money transfer to my wife using Western Union. Due to a complete lack of security, Western Union paid the amount out to a complete stranger - without valid ID (as only my wife has the valid ID).

That is weird. I've never had that happen and it sucks that it happened to you. Usually the place the receives the money has to ask for valid picture ID and it has to be the person the money was intended for. Sorry to hear your misfortune.

Why do banks charge you a "non-sufficient funds fee" on money they already know you don't have?

Hope you dont get any hassles with them in getting your money back. They dont have a valid signature so they should be kissing your ass right now.

Well, wouldn't that "complete stranger" have to know that there was a wire transfer for your wife in order to get ahold of it? It's not like you can walk into a Western Union and say "I'm here for my money" and they just hand over money... They would have to give them a name or order number or SOMETHING...
