still whistlin.

its like a old man on crack who has a broken front tooth and a harmonica.

anyway. its still friggin loud, i still havent narrowed it down..and im lost-er than ever.

on a side note, i run full synthetic mobil1, and i noticed the oil is getting a LOT dirtier than normal..

suggests intake leak?

so..no one answered my lastquestion.

could vaccum tube leaks be so loud that it can be heard from inside the car w. the windows up? or with the windows down, going 50-6o on the freeway?

if it cant.. then its somewhere in my tb..

how about the air-foil. can that make lots of noises?

it gets QUIET at certain THROTTLE position

not rpms. i could be going 4K rpm, with real little throttle..and id still hear it..

or i could be going 2Krpm, with half throttle and you wont hear it.

suggests intake, right?

Re: still whistlin.

If that's the case, it has to be a manifold vacuum leak. Remember, when accelerating, manifold vacuum is reduced to near nill (ported vacuum increases) , so that would have to back that theroy up a bit. I worked on a v6 one time with a similar prob but sounded like a damned harrier jet setting up for take off. Ended up being the EGR pick gasket.

Re: still whistlin.

check the hoses to before you go replacing a gasket. Get a friend to push on the throttle so you can hear it. Go to a auto store and get one of the Autostethoscopes so you can try to pin point the noise better.

Re: still whistlin.

It has to be a huge hose/leak. Did you do anything to the car before this all got started?
