engine washed, now troubles come.. help
ok check it out i washed my engine 4 days ago, after washing it i let it dry and it ran ok, i drove it home and about an hour laterit started running bad, whenever am in first and press the gas it bogs as it climbs the rpm band, in 2nd and 3rd it cant pull on fulll throttle but if u let off a little it will pull then refrain from pulling. Ok i checked all seals, plugs, sensors, and hoses. I replaced distributor, rotor, intake and plugz. I used compressed air and took out all electrical clips and blew em out. I put a bag over the intake when cleaned it but it had a hole in it and i didnt know that. I am now stuck, i am beginning to think it is a bent valve or something. No smoke is coming out of the engine. I thought about a sensor being bad but then i thoght that the check engine light would come on. Anyone got any ideas..... thanks fellas

so no water got into the plugs or the distributor. that would cause this. my brothers 97 civic did this after a big rain. it cleared up as days passed.
did you cover your distributar with foil or anything ?........... never mind i realyyy read your post this time. try disonecting the battery and reconnecting kinda reset your ecu.. maby that will help. |

well when you wash your engine every and any electrical connecter or instrument is not safe. most likely what your prob is electrical related, i would check all GROUNDS and go and clean every connecter.

definitly check all electrical connections..I have been doing wash work to engines for yrs and the one thing I do besides taping up and covering the distributor and anything I can electrical I leave ht ecar running to ensure it's warm and any water that does get on anything gets blown off fromt he engine or it's warm enough to dry it.
Hope this might help and you can get it taken care of....:frog:

My guess is that the engine washing didnt really have anything to do with the running problems if it was a spark plug boot. That sucks that your expensive wires are screwed up now, cool that you fixed it though...
