Lookie what I got!

Take a look at my new 4g Found this little one on Craigslist, guy wanted 500 and said it didnt turn over but ran fine when he drove it. I offered him 350 and he took it. We push started it and it started right up and settled into a perfect idle. After driving it back home I found that the clutch safety switch had lost its plug and the car fired up first try. It has 196k miles on it, but I realized yesterday that the engine is actually a d15b7. I am so surprised at how well it runs and drives, its so different than my crx...no more pulling to one side, or rattling my teeth out, or flying out of the seat on the slightest bump. It drives as if it had far less than 100k.
The interior is for the most part perfect, and I just need to put my SI seats in and throw a cluster with a tach in.

Re: Lookie what I got!

I envy you. I've also been looking for a cheap hatch. 350? Damn man you cant beat that. I've been thinking about getting rid of my rex for another hatch too, my old hatch was just too much fun. What are your plans for the rex?

Edit: whats up the the steering wheel? It looks like someone had a panic attack and bent that mofo forward lol.

Re: Lookie what I got!

Yeah it looks as though the wheel was bent by the dude while trying to pull the car by it or something..he was a marine and seemed to be capable of such a feat..hell, he broke a drawer after throwing because he couldnt find the title before I showed up lol.. :-/

Oh btw.. that "Shift Knob" is a real fuckin 8 ball... they drilled out the bottom then screwed it on, this morning it finally stripped out completely, thank god.

The exhaust is a full 2.25 catback, the tip just says "racing" lol, but it doesnt sound bad at all..in fact my GF's family said it sounded just like my rex pulling up. I havent gotten it up high enough to really rip into the rice ranges yet though. Until I noticed the engine code I was really babying what I thought to be an engine with 196k on it.

I took a few more pics, and got some of the engine. Damn thing is still running on DPFI, but I dont mind at all..the harness is uncut *grin*. The only thing is that all of the AC hardware is removed, damn... It still blows and has heat though, and although I havent found the wiring for them yet, Im pretty sure I can go to a junkyard and have ac in a day..then itll be purrrrfect. Im so happy, you usually see people on forums and stuff that manage to pick up steals like that for cheap and I never thought I'd find one.

My friend was about to stab me in the back though lol, if I didn't take it, he was already pulling the cash out of his wallet to buy it!

Re: Lookie what I got!

I dunno..I might. Right now im enjoying the nice ride and smoothness of everything. I was considering gutting all of the worthwhile parts off my rex and swapping my b16. But lately Im questioning that, I would need a new tranny (2nd gear synchro is gone, 3rd to follow shortly, and the case is cracked) and I think it may be burning oil..Im going to do a compression check and maybe a leakdown this weekend. The downfall of my crx was the plagued wiring, the car never ran to its potential. But I notice it was also very loose and on the edge, not a docile car at all. Even after I replaced the steering rack and upper arms it still has a deadzone that the hatch certainly does not. I dont think Id use my APC springs..they came on the rex and it has nice handling but absolutely horrible ride. some nice springs and shocks would really be nice..that and getting the baloons for tires off the front of the car. Hell, if I could find 2 more of whatever is on the back id use those, otherwise Im gonna steal the blades off the rex.

Re: Lookie what I got!

Is it an STD or dx? The engine looks like a d15b2 by looking at the exahust mani. You should enjoy the gas mileage on it for now.

Re: Lookie what I got!

Its a DX, 5 spd. And its a D15B7 with all the parts of a b2 slapped on, hence the DPFI..and actually so far I dont notice a HUGE difference between my b16 as far as fuel mileage..Im still waiting to burn through the tank of gas it had in it to tell how far it will go.

And yes, my rex is in all around bad shape. The body is dented and has the usual rust spots now, it just doesnt look like it did when i got it and would take farr too much to make it right..besides the entire chassis and engine harness being ghetto rigged to hell..basically it runs (well but not right) and the radio works, oh and the lights etc..everything else is non functional like the defroster, reverse lights, dimmers, AC and such. Its not worth it to worl on it anymore because I know it doesnt have the potential to do what I want. In fact I think this hatch will run similar times to the crx..which is sitting pitiful at 16.069 best, and avg of 16.4-.6

I think you should sell your rex for a nice chunk of change and use that money for the hatch. The hatch looks like it wont dissapoint.
