Front suspension DIY?

Well i successfully completed an UIM/LIM job last weekend and now im moving down the list.

I had my rear suspension replaced a couple of months ago since the bearing plates were shot, along with the strut and spring. My front suspension is just as old and has also never been changed. my car is almost 10 years old now !!

I have been reading through some of the threads and it looks like it is a feasible DIY job. It cost me over 900$ CDN to have my rear suspension replaced (parts and labour) and was hoping to save some money this time. My question is: i have seen that munroe sells an entire unit pre-assembled (strut, spring, bearing plate) that appears to be a direct change-out/change in. Does this mean i wont have to worry about using a spring compressor, i can just take the old assembly out, and put the new one in, without swapping any parts ?

Also, i have read that more people here prefer KYB struts to munroe, does anyone know if KYB offers a similar all-in-one unit ?

Car: 98 SE 3800 w/o sc

Thanks

-Steve

Re: Front suspension DIY?

I've heard from very reliable and informative members on here that Monroe struts are way too soft for our vehicles and will ride like a boat with less than desirable handling. I replaced my stock struts with KYB GR2's about ten thousand miles ago and I love the performance. My struts did not come pre-assembled and not sure if they do. I'm sure someone else on here will chime in and have that info for you.
