Anyone know the name of this processor?

This week my van has decided to have a fit. It will start and idle perfectly in park but immediately stall out when I put it in reverse or drive (without taking my foot of the brake). Also, it will run in 1st gear fine and my husband said he was able to change to 2nd gear without any issues as well.

I have been told by a friend who had this exact problem that it was a processor but she couldn't remember what the name of it was.

Any one have any ideas?

Hi

My guess would be the idle air controller (IAC). Now that is just a guess, because it could be functioning perfectly but getting fault or no input. But, it is located on top of the throttle body and looks like this:

If you remove the two screws and unplug it, you can use some carburetor cleaner to cleanse the inside of the two chambers shown in the left most picture on the link. Don't over saturate it, just get it as clean as you can. Put it back on and see what happens.

For a second guess I might go Throttle position sensor.

Let us know what you learn.

Best regards
