INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

Ok so after 3000 people complained about my car being to high needing to be lowered, i finally went out and bought intrax springs had it lowered inch and half, but the thing is i have a friggin roller coaster ride. I go up and down, ive driven in other lowered cars and it is not this bad, how do i fix this. Do i need new struts or shocks? What should I do.......

Re: INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

if your bouncing up and down uncontrollably, then your struts are probably shot. shoulda replaced those at the same time you did the springs, because its the same amount of labor required. if you paid a shop to do the springs, expect the same labor charge to replace the struts. i would take this opportunity to learn to do it yourself. the rears are easy, the front is a PITA (the spring part).

Re: INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

Yeah I already paid like $250 to have lowering springs installed, because I didn't want to mess with my suspension myself, heard some scary stories about that, but if i really do need to replace my shocks/struts who makes some for like under 200 for all 4, because man lowering this car is costing me quiet a pretty penny already, thanks.

Re: INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

you can find KYB GR2's on www.thepartsbin.com for a reasonable price, free shipping on orders over $50, too!

if you have a non-turbo WITHOUT ECS, then i have some rear KYB GR2's with just 20k miles that i'm selling. $125 shipped for both, when they retail for $95 each.

Re: INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

I just put mine in about a week ago, except they're the 1.9"/1.7" drop ones. Bought a $13 spring compressor from Harbor Freight, worked great. With hand tools in my driveway it took me about 3 hrs. total for the fronts, 1.5 hrs for the rear (that's including time it took to jack the car/remove wheels/etc). That's also with one of the strut bolts being frozen and having to remove the entire knuckle with the strut on one side. Not that bad.

I would suggest doing it yourself, since you already have the lowering springs in, there won't be much tension to worry about hurting yourself with. But that's me, I love doing work I haven't done before.

Re: INTRAX SPRINGS Roller Coaster Ride!!!!!!!

i had something like that happen in my accrod when i had it. i put in the springs, but i just left on a peice. lol

you might want to check your strut mounts first. when going over a speed bump, find out if it's the front or rear that's got a rough ride [it may be both]. if it's just one end, then only touch that end. there's no point in doing extra work. but if everything looks good visually, there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

as for the struts, my struts mounts were busted, and after driving a while, my struts leaked like crazy and just went out. i picked up some pepboys, nothing crazy expension, but they worked EXCELLENT. in fact, the ride was better than when i first bought and put the springs on.
