Insurance
Hi Guys:
New to the forum. I'm in the process of purchasing a 67 Firebird. I don't live far from work and im planning on making it my main car. All of the classic car insurance sites won't insure it if i drive it as my primary car. Was wondering if anyone knew of a good company for this. i live in Los Angeles, CA. thanks |

Re: Insurance
If it's gonna be your primary car then you're gonna have to use normal insurance. No collector company will insure it with that condition... plus you most likely can't get collector's registration because of that (You wouldn't in NJ... not sure on the CA laws)

Re: Insurance
If it's worth anything, get an appraisal, and keep a list of the receipts for any part and or work you have done. You'll have to get regular insurance to use it as a daily, the collector insurances have too many restrictions on them.
If you have all your stuff documented you should be good. If you wind up filing a claim (from what MY insurance guy says - allstate) they HAVE to pay you what you can substantiate. |

Re: Insurance
I forget which one it was, Haggerty (collector car) I think, that quoted me 240 for 6 months, no restriction, on my AMC.
But a '67 Bird as a daily in LA, unless you're a known thug in the hood, I don't know how long that car will be yours.

Re: Insurance
you will need to insure it like a regular car. even though companies like state farm, etc offer collector/historic car policies, they will not give you that rate if its your daily driver. my advice to you would be to buy a cheap beater car for daily use so you can get a collector car rate on the bird.
