Need some assistance.

Hello all I am currently running a 72 dodge charger with a 318 four barrel. I am having been having some trouble with it lately. The car runs and sounds great, but it turns off on me after about 10 minutes of driving. At times there seems to be now warning, the radio stays on and the RPMs just drop to 0 shuting down the engine. At other times, the RPMs drop, giving the feeling it is going to turn off, but jump back to normal. It only has happened when driving. I have changed the ballast resistor, igninition module and distributor. This is my first thread and i greatly appreciate and suggestions and help.

Re: Need some assistance.

Does it shut off long enough to check for spark and fuel in the carb? There is a fuel filter in the tank to be concerned with if original, an inline filter, a pushrod that drives the fuel pump that can wear, so you need to isolate fuel issues from electrical.

Re: Need some assistance.

When the car turns off it can be turned on immediately without hesitation, I'm not sure if that helps.

Re: Need some assistance.

Check for good connections at the ign switch look for any sign of melting or overheating where the wires connect to the ign switch., wiggle the key around see if it stalls.
