pcv valve installation

Hi: Just joined this site and just bought a 1996 neon with the single over head cam engine. Have a question on what is the best way to replace the pcv valve. Kind of tough to get at since it is behind the intake a little bit. What is the trick to get this thing off and the new one on without major headaches? Thanks in advance.

What I did was to remove the clamp at the bottom end of the tubing - where it connects to the intake manifold, and at the top end - where the larger tube connects to the camshaft cover. Then you wiggle and snake it out -upward-. The hardest part is getting pliers onto the 'squeeze clamp' that is down by the intake manifold, due to the fans being in the way. It is possible though; I used a long pair of needle-nosed pliers.

Thanks. worked perfectly and still have most of my skin on my hands.

Had one back in 1996-97. Only brand new car I ever owned. Problem was we also had the most snow that year. Car did not have enough clearence to go through 4 inches of snow let alone the 10 feet we got that year. Love driving them and love the mileage. Just the little glitches that come with 120,000 miles plus of abuse that kind of suck.
