89 Suburban Fuel Deliverey Problems

Okay,

I have done some research and here is the problem that I am having. I have an 89 1500 4x4 5.7L. All the sudden it would not start. I did not hear the fuel pump running, so that was my first though. I put a little gas in the TBI and it ran a few seconds and died. I have replaced the fuel pump (Wasn't bad. Ouch it took some time too) and the fuel pump relay. If I give the pump power directly from a line splice, the pump will run. There is a test wire on the relay that you are supposed to be able to put a fused connector on and run the pump, this does not work. I am confused and looking for all the help I can get.

Thank

Re: 89 Suburban Fuel Deliverey Problems

We can if it does not have it's own fuse. I have searched high a low and read the book. The only fuse I can see it goes to is the idle/ing fuse. This fuse it good. If there is another fuse. I would love to know where.....

There has to be a fp fuse, look at the panel under the hood.

Re: 89 Suburban Fuel Deliverey Problems

There was not a specific fuse for just the FP. I figured out it was a wiring problem. Someone has previously put an alarm in the burb and I have no controllers for it. I guess that it cuts out the fuel system. Had to rewire from the relay.... Works for now.
