what got YOU started racing?

i've been around racing for awhile.... my bro used to run a lot--but he's an old guy now.... but more recently -- i got a new car... civic si '02.... and i was with my other brother and this slammed eclipse w/ probably only a few mods drew the line... anyhoo.. dude revved me.... and i'm stock -- but he was really tryin to punk me.... i'm like o jeez .... but anyway, i got punked i stuck w/ him for about eight or less car lengths off the line.. then got assed..... i mean i knew i wasn't gonna win or anything.. but then i decided... i gotta get back to it....

a few years ago i had a 93 Corrado VR6..... and i had some mods.... but it had some speed.. but i traded it in so i could get a FZR600 '93 and a 97 200sx SE-R (auto)... i had lost all love for anytype of racing.. just loved the bike..... but now.... i'm here to dismantle that eclipse when i see him again..... eh..........

sorry to bore you but i'm chillin' and bored so i thought i'd share.... if you can let me know your story too... by the way... i used to be one of those VW 'farfrommugen' ... now i drive one... funny.... aight

I've never gotten into racing any more then stomping on a few people now and then. I just like to go fast as hell and be glued to the road while doing it.

I never got into organized street racing because of the danger. Not so much of accidents, but of legal consequences. I couldn't afford to be hit with a speeding/wreckless/racing ticket, because my already sky-high insurance would be bumped even higher. I've always been a fan of stoplight battles though, b/c of their randomness, and because you never know what you're up against, the person next to you could be just another pushover, or a fully built motor busting 9s at the track. That's pretty much the only racing I get into on the street, an occasional race.
Racing at the track is an entirely different thing. That's what I use to see the benefits of my mods. It's the most effective method out there of telling you how much faster your car is. A dyno is useful for tuning purposes, but it doesn't show you the benefits of mods such as TCs and gears as well. A track is the best way to test your car's abilities and your abilities as a driver. And also, nothing is better than time slips to prove who's quick and who's not!!

I hit the petal down to the floor and loved the feeling.

Ever sence I was a lil kid I wanted more speed, more insanity, pushing the limits just that much more.

On a pony at 5, I wanted to ride the horse

at 13, being a passenger? No, being ontop of the car, or halfway out

being a passenger at 120mph? Nope, cant sit still, have to get half way out and freek people out.

going down the grade *6% so its almost strait down*, brakes? No, gotta floor it

Needless to say I have to force myself to tone it down alot, but I live for that aldrenaline rush, Living a life where little to nothing gets to me means I need to take it a step higher to get the blood going.

So needless to say, racing just was perfect for me

I got into souping imports because I picked up an "Import Tuner" one day and loved the way the cars looked in that. A week later I bought a Civic and started souping. Then my friends and I hit the organized street racing thing for a while. It was fun and all but there were so overwhelmingly many posers. I was stock at the time and won race after race because people would come out with like '89 Maximas all stock and start revving like their cool. If a decent car would have come along I would have gotten my ass handed to me but it was solid ricers or 50 year old men in stock CRXs with fart cans trying to relive their youth... every friday. Over and over... so I decided I'd rather pour some money into the engine and then do some exterior work. So I did and started doing shows instead.
On rare occasion I'll hit the street but it's always the punk bitches who've got their daddy's Accord or someone and they lose because it's always an automatic or they don't know how to drive a stick or something and they lose and get all pissed off and start screaming and yelling and shit because they fucking lost. I'd rather do the stoplight races because it's almost always in fun. Give a quick thumbs up when you lose and go about your business.

My Dad

Back when I was Lil, my dad used to take me out in his Z, they had Z club meeting and they'd always cruise and hit da track and race em. That sparked my interest at an early age, and ever since then I've been hooked.
