Type r Intake Manifold??

I have a Second Gen B16A Engine, with Intake, headers and Exhaust, if I put a TYPE R Intake Manifold, how much HorsePower I will gain???

I have a friend that is my rival, he has a LS/VTEC, and in 1/4 of mile it wins me for an advantage by a car .

Will I win my friend with this new modification?

Thanks for Your help!!

Hey, like the 4th said, dont expect to win, but its a good mod for the long run. I'm not sure if you'll run into this problem but Type R intake manifold with some throttle body will require additional work. The throttle bracket on the throttle body might need to be modified so that you can close your hood. my friend and i ran into that problem so we had to cut the bracket, bend it and weld it back together.

I'll try to help

Here's how you get the Type R intake manifold to work on a a different b series (this works for the Skunk2 also). This is my experience from installing a Skunk2 on my GSR. A) Buy a new intake manifold gasket (Hondata makes a really neat one for $50) B) Buy a new throttle body gasket C) Buy a Type R throttle bracket from an Acura dealership B) Buy a Civic DX throttle body rotor.

Alternatives

A) Cut the crap out of the stock throttle bracket. Some B series engines put the throttle body down lower and when the TB is moved up the throttle bracket hits the hood. Cut it down so it will clear (you shouldn't have this problem unless you have a GSR)

B) Wrap the throttle cable around the old throttle rotor. You can use pliers to pry the thing apart and then close it in making the cable come out the right way. It's doable with total reliability (I did this)

-Tim

Hope this helps

In this pic you can KINDA see how I wraped the cable around the old throttle body rotor

what kind of performance gains could you expect from the toda individual throttle bodies instead of a type r manifold
