I have a 98 Chevy Prism, and a couple of weeks ago the left turn signal (only) started to act. When pulling the switch it will start clicking very fast and the signal lights won't turn on. If I turn the signal off and try again it will most of the time work just fine. Sometimes it first doesn't work for a few seconds and then will start working fine by itself. The right turn signal and the hazard warning signal always work fine. All light bulbs work fine as well.
Any ideas what is wrong? ![]() If you think this is something else besides the flasher, or the switch itself can you also tell where that part is on a 98 Chevy Prism? Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: Left Turn Signal Doesn't Work Intermittently
well it could be the wiring or the switch other then that the only thing i can think is a bulb but you say it works sometimes so its not a bulb, so i come to the wiring.does it do it on a dead stop or while your drinving over some bumps. its kind of hard to say try those if not it could be your switch for sure.

Re: Left Turn Signal Doesn't Work Intermittently
it definitely isn't the flasher relay.
I would remove and inspect each bulb, look for burnt connectors, corrosion, water or melted bulb contacts If that all looks good, I would suspect the multi-function switch (ie, the thingy you move to turn on the signal)

Either install new bulbs on the left side first, or switch the bulbs from one side of the car to the other. Make sure they're not swimming in that conductive grease (which picks up all sorts of crud) that everyone seems to over-apply to the bulb contact points.

It turned out to be the turn signal switch. I got a new switch ($20+) from an Internet retailer, and installed it a couple of days ago. Since then the problem is gone.
