Malibu vs Olds Intrigue vs Grand Am

I know this is a Century forum, but I've gotten a lot of good information here, and thought some GM owners might have some input. My daughter currently has a 97 Malibu and we're looking to get her a newer car for college graduation. She's debating between another 04 Malibu or an 02 Oldmobile Intrigue. The dealer is offering them for the same price, and both have under 60,000 miles on them and are local trades. I'm not familiar with the Intrigue, but I know a lot of people have problems with the Malibu, we have been lucky and dad repaired the manifold on the 97 - no other problems so far - but it's getting close to 110,000 miles on it and when she relocates after college, dad won't be available to catch/fix problems before they become major. And does it matter is the 4 cyl better/worse than the 6 cyl? My daughter is leaning towards the Malibu since she likes the one she has and has it in her head that the Oldmobile will get bad gas mileage. Another dealer is pushing a 2000 Grand Am GT loaded with sunroof and all the bells & whistles for $7500 less but 15000 more miles - I normally don't think as a Grand Am being reliable - What's opinion on these cars? Any help would be great.

Hark,

Since your email and PM messaging is turned off consider this a warning which will be your only warning. Please do not post an issue or question that is unrelated to the make/model in this forum. Also, I noticed you have multiple posts across various AF forums addressing this same issue. This violates AF Community Rules. One more post and I will not hesitate to take further action against your AF account.

Also, we have other more appropriate forums such as Car Buying Q&A and Car Comparisons that I highly recommend you use.

Please refer to AF Communty Guidelines that you agreed to at sign-up. This thread has been closed.

Duplicate discussions can be frustrating for other members, especially for those whose time and energy is limited. Weeding through the same discussion in multiple locations can be not only frustrating, but down right annoying. Duplicate discussions will be deleted. Reposting the same message repeatedly can be interpreted as SPAM and could result in the loss of your membership. Also be conscious of your fellow members and avoid making meaningless posts for the sole purpose of increasing your post count.
