harmonic balancer

I have a breaker bar to remove the harmonic balancer from a 92 oldsmobile cutless ciera s 3.3 L car but the bolt in the middle of the balancer will not budge. Someone said that I can lock the flywhell somehow and that would prevent the balancer from turning so that I can loosen the bolt. Where is the access to the flywheel (please be detailed in explanation where it is) so that I can lock it so that the balancer will not turn and I can loosen this VERY tight bolt in the middle of the balancer?

Re: harmonic balancer

Take the shield/inspection cover off the trans at the flywheel area. This will expose the flywheel, jam a holding device of your choice up between the f/wheel teeth and the bell housing. An impact gun would solve this, of course.

Re: harmonic balancer

Why dont you just put your breaker bar on the bolt and make sure its wedged in there really good and hit the key to let the starter break the bolt loose.. ive done that several times but you have to be careful you dont let it start.
