86 T/A codes

I have an 86 trans am 305 TPI that stalls on deceleration. Sounds like EGR to me but codes from the ECM are 33 36 and 44. I can find 33 and 44 in my book but 36 is not listed . I live in aus and I can't just go to the local dealer so any help is gratefully apreciated. Thanks

Re: 86 T/A codes

Code 33..MAF voltage low..Replace MAF power relay
Code 36..MAF burn off malfunction...Replace MAF burn off relay

Replace both of those relays, clear the codes and then see if 44 comes back.

Thanks Morley. Sounds like the way to go. Those suckers are about 100 bucks each over here just wanted to be sure that 36 wasn't something inconsistent with the others.

Thanks again

OUCH!!!! $100 each? Where, praytell, are you? Those relays cost about $14 in the states (maybe a few $ more). If you are in Europe you may want to see if someone in the U.S. would buy them for you and ship em to you. Even with the V.A.T. you'd pay waaaaay less than $100 for the pair.

Looked at your profile and I see you are "down under" (don't know why I missed that in your post). The same applies, get someone here to buy them and ship.
Have you looked at relays for a Holden? They are after all GM. Any heavy duty automotive relay would work, just pay attention to the wiring for the coil and power transfer. If you can get Holden relays you should be able to get the wiring for them too and just splice it into your harness.

Re: 86 T/A codes

The joys of owning an american car in australia. The adaptation of another relay to suit mine would be beyond my expertise and getting an auto electrician to do it would be expensive but I did a bit more searching on the net and found another place here that sells them for $25 which with the exchange rate seems a little closer to the $14 you pay. Its the wife's drive car ( she's a rev head ) so I shouldn't complain buying 2 at that price. Don't know whether I would have bought 2 at $100 though. Thanks again for your help
