I have a leak coming from the area with the green x. Can I repair or replace that piece?
Also the circled area could I just replace that and what is it called?

This pic was borrowed from another member.

Re: Help identify this part

Can you give us some background info on what year/model it is please?

That'll help me know which manual to open to try to help you.

From what im gathering from the picture its a portion of the power steering assembly?

Re: Help identify this part

Its a 97 4rnr 4x4. Thats part of the steering rack. Its leaking and i am trying to find out if i need to replace the the rack. I have heard one opinion stating that I could just replace a seal in there and I am hoping that is the case.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Help identify this part

That part is the control valve housing - inside is the control valve assembly. There are o-rings and oil seals between the rack, control valve assembly, and the control valve housing. There are also teflon rings inside the control valve assembly. All these are replaceable.

Although the above files show the rack removed from the truck, there is a good chance that you can remove the control valve assembly without removing the rack from the truck.

Re: Help identify this part

That is a huge help. Thank you so much. The dealer parts counter was no help at all. I am going to tackle this as soon as I order the parts.
