96 Camero Brake Lite
I have a 96 Camero and the Brake Warning Lite stays on. The car is a 5 speed and I think it might be the Switch for the Park Brake. Is the Park Brake Switch located in the console? Is there anything else I can check?

Is your brake fluid normal level? Does your brake pedel sink to the floor slowly when you push on it and hold it for a few seconds? I had the same problem when my brake light switch kept staying on, I found out that I had air in the brake system because my master cylinder was leaking and was always running out of fluid. Another way you can check is looking around the master cylinder for brake fluid leaking, usually below it. And, while your right there you can check and see if your brake resovior sensor which is located on your brake resovior is bad. That will keep your light on also. You can also try bleeding your brakes at all 4 wheels. If that doesn't help at all, at least you know that your brakes are air free. As far as the Park Brake switch, it should be inside your console somewhere next to the lever. As far as I know it should be. Hope this helps. |
