2000 Montana-How Exactly Does One Replace The Serpentine Belt
Subject Says it All. I guess I'm not finding where the tensioner is or
how to get it to release the old belt. Thanks. |

Re: 2000 Montana-How Exactly Does One Replace The Serpentine Belt
Hi, My 99' is as follows:
Remove the long black plastic windshield wiper motor cover for better access. Look for the lowest and most rearward positioned pulley. There is a slot which accepts a 3/8 inch rachet or pull handle. This is the tensioning pulley. Your model is probably the same as this or similar. Regards, HC2000

Re: 2000 Montana-How Exactly Does One Replace The Serpentine Belt
The pulley is connected to a triangular pivot. You literally stick the square part of a 3/8" ratchet into a square hole on the pulley. Pull the ratchet back toward you to release the tension.
Good luck. It's helpful to have a third arm protruding from your chest to get the belt back on. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those. Come to think of it, that's probably best. |
