1996 Ranger Clutch Problems

Put In Used Trans,new Flywheel,new Slave Cylinder,& New Clutch Assm... Bled System Several Times.. Still Not A Good Pedal.. Clutch
Will Not Engage Enough To Shift While Running At An Idle... Can See
Fingers Moving, I Guess Not Enough.. Help

Your clutch master cylinder could also be worn out. I had mine done. The mechanic warned me this master slave setup was tough to bleed the air out of system. After I got my truck back the pedal shifted right at the floor for the first couple days but finally came up to normal

Is the peddle real hard to push? Almost like you cannot push it at all.

the transmissions in rangers are hard to bleed with out a special tool.

i just did one of these last week. i bled mine like a regular brake system. ie: open bleeder and press and hold pedal down. tighten bleeder. (repeat till fluid is solid, no sputtering. (air) then pump several times and hold down and open bleeder and close immediatly and repeat till no air comes out. (MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE RESORVIOR FULL) then just pump pedal till clutch comes up and check to see if it works. If not replace your clutch master cyl. Hope it helps
