Accord / Fusion / Legacy?

Hi all,

Can anyone help me make a decision. I'm going to be purchasing a new vehicle. I think I've decided on the Honda Accord EXL V6, but the Ford Fusion is nice as is the Subaru Legacy.

Anyone's feedback on why I should purchase / not purchase any of these vehicles will be very much appreciated as I am in the final stages of my decision making process. I'm just looking for any info that I might have missed in my own research.

Hey I know how you feel. But it's like comparing apples and oranges

Honda is more of the sporty feel handling type of the vehicle. I must say I have not driven latest models but it's got to be doublewishbone Honda suspension, so don't get too big of hopes about the smooth soft ride on that one. Subaru is AWD, so if you live in the “snow belt” it could be the deciding factor & Ford I’d never buy anything but used (with low miles though) because it looses it value so fast you can hear it....
I don't make my decisions strictly on what I used to like (I was a "Honda man" forever) but on the long term ownership of the vehicle & what I am intending on using it for. i.e everyday driving - long trips - weekend vehicle
Think, compare & make the decision based on the facts strictly. If you let your emotions decide for you, later you are bound to regret it.

Thanks - anyone else. I was thinking the same thing about the Ford. And, I think you would be surprised by the ride on the new accord. It is very nice and smooth. I'm 6'4, so the Legacy was just a bit tight, but the Accord had plenty of room (more than necessary - which was a shocker)

anyone else's opinion?

at this point I've pretty much ruled out the ford - just don't feel like it would be close to as reliable and I know it definitely won't hold it's resale like the others.

1st, You need to be comfortable 100%. Ide choose the Subaru, more bang for the buck plus all wheel-drive. The Honda is much faster (less you comparing to Legacy GT) if you care about speed, however, the torque steer is annoying when passing old people and Mexicans w/o insurance.

I'd say stay away from the Subie *unless* you live up north where there's a lot of snow and ice. Down here in the south where I'm at, it seems pretty pointless. Just added weight and penalized fuel economy.

I like Fords, especially the Fusion, but I'd still have to lean towards the Accord on this one.. resale value is so important.

Just curious - have you considered the 2007 Altima? It's frickin fantastic. Fast as heck, handles great, tons of room.. pricing is similar to the Accord, and historic resale value is good.

How reliable are Nissans? The Altima has about the same power as a Subaru 2.5L but less weight and FWD.
Another fast 170+ 4 banger is the Pontiac G5 GT, which I believe has the best MPG here and GM's new 100k/5 year warranty. Ide get all these in stick shift of course. The only bad thing about the G5 GT I've noticed are the bloated prices on autotrader, and it seems like it is hard to find it in manual.

Generally speaking, the Altima has a good reliability history. Last year there was an engine recall, which is odd. Besides that nothing major that I know of.

I'd be deathly fearful of the Pontiac G5. GM cars are known for feeling "worn out" much more quickly than Honda / Nissan models. 10k on a G5 might feel like 80k on an Accord / Altima. Just food for thought.

Actually, I'm not getting a manual.

*takes moment of silence to weep for the passing of enjoyable driving experience*

I have a wife. ugh - haha. Anyway, she doesn't drive a stick (what is it with women) and we decided that we should get something that she would be comfortable in (more like she told me that we aren't getting a stick - hahaha *weeps again*)

So, I'm thinking the honda because I like that it has a 5 speep auto tranny rather than the subaru's 4 speed.

I'm not looking at the subaru GT - which would be TIGHT, but I am looking at the Acord V6.

Also, I'm leasing. Honda blows everyone else that I've seen out of the water with their leasing options / money factor / residual etc.

Thoughts?

OK,

I just got done checking the Acura website out and they have a lease option for the TL for 369 a month for a 36 month lease. Any reasons why I shouldn't get the TL instead of the Accord Exl v6? The price is slightly more - but very comparable to the Accord price per month.

At this point, there isn't anythign that I can see that is a red flag.

Thoughts?
