Question removal of pioneer from 92 sentra

a friend of mine has a 92 sentra with a bottom of the line pioneer deck. apparently the sentras dont have enough room in there for a basket to put the deck in, so the deck is bolted directly to the dashboard. i figured out there was no basket when i tried to use the keys to pull it out with no luck at all. so the best buy guy told me that i have to take out the panelling then with some work i can get all the screws out of there to get the deck out and replace it with the stock deck.

my question to you guys is how deep do i need to get in there before i will get access to the deck? in other words, what pieces need to be removed and in what order? i did the entire stereo in my sol, so im not completely retarded in getting this stuff done, im just not too familiar with his sentra and i dont want to break something. thanks for the help.

info... auto or standard????

there is a quick way of doing this..
1. remove the bezel around the stick or autoshifter
2 unscrew the four screws on the stereo/ac bezel. make sure you pull out the ash tray and stuff
3 remove the lighters plug and defrost and Emergency plug
4 flip bezel still attached to ac unit(or take the time to remove the vents from bezel.. this may work better.. but it didnt)
5 if all goes well you should see the 4 bolts retaining the stereo.. its better to use the stock mounts that came with the factory radio. if there is not one you could probably pick up mounts from nissan somewhere or go to a junk yard and find a 91/92 radio.

any questions dont be afraid to ask.

this is going to be done on a standard. bear with me on this, as my memory about the pieces isnt perfect at all. when i saw it last, and i didnt really look at it to see what plastic pieces went were, there was the center console that holds the shifter. moving up from that, there was a black piece on either side of the center console, which is gray, enclosing the stereo/ac/other stuff. it looked like those pieces were seperate to me. it seems to be that you are saying, take off the piece holding the gear shift, then move directly the the gray center piece holding the stereo/ac, rather than removing the outside black pieces. then you flip things around till they are out of the way, and take out the stereo. i may have misinterpreted something somewhere, and the picture of what it looks like in my head is probably wrong, so please correct me where you can.

also, are there any hidden screws that i might miss while i am trying to get this stuff apart? which screws are a bitch to get to, and ar there any trick to getting it done easier?

thanks for the help.

once you remove the shifter bezel pull out the ash tray..

there are four screws holding the upper bezel in.

(i remember this from my 91 so 92 should not be any different.

they are not hidden ut you wont find them unless you are down low.

there is one by the ashtray holder and near the lighter.the thos above the emergency flassher.

that should be it for the bezel. (that i can remember at least.)

once the bezel is off/flipped you should be able to see clearly how this works.

BTW putting the frame that goes around the stereo will not be possible without trimming.. its not really necassary..

thanks for the help. now all i need to do is find time to do it, which seems to be harder than actually getting it done.
