I just picked up an '84 camaro with the 6 cylinder engine and it started stalling next day. When I test drove it and drove it around that day had no problems. Next morning it starts stalling when I accelerate from idol. Totally at random. Mechanic told me to replace the whole Carburetor. Only looked at it an hour. Seemed kinda rash to me without checking out other possibilities. Anyone have any suggestions what I should be looking for before replacing whole Carburetor??

Re: '84 Camaro RS stalling problems
Welcome to AF.
![]() What do you know about this car? Has it been stored and not started in some time??? Either way, as I always suggesst for any newly acquired used vehicle, go through all the routine maintnance items. This will tell howwell the car has been treated and may hint at future problems to look for. |

Re: '84 Camaro RS stalling problems
Well, the car was sitting for a while. I did go over the Carburetor and cleaned it up pretty good. I have been getting a strong fuel smell these last couple of hours. Its my belief that the car was barely maintained. It definiently wasn't own by a car lover. I can't seem to find any fuel leaks from any of the fuel lines at all. Checked all the plugs and wires and they all seem to be in working order.
