Speedometer cable

I need to replace the speedo cable on the '89. What's the best way to get to it? I removed the front covers from the instrument panel to change the tach but can't get the speedo out.

You need to remove the 2 nuts at the bottom of the cluster (look in the holes). Then drop the panel under the dash. Get up under there with a long screwdriver and a flashlight. There is a clip on the back of the speedo with a leg sticking up and out the side, Push that leg with the screwdriver and with a free hand pull the inst. cluster out.

Re: Speedometer cable

Thanks, Morley!!!
I removed the 2 nuts at the bottom and cluster was loose but still would not come out for the steering column. I was able to tilt the cluster enough to get the cable off and a new one on.

Thanks again,
Rob
