R-Series into del Sol?

Maybe not a lot of point to it, due to the fact that it's probably a wiring nightmare not unlike the K-series swap, but I'm curious if anyone's tried to slap an R18 or R20 into an OBD2 del Sol. Seems like a nice balance between D16Y5/Y7 fuel economy and B18B power.

Re: R-Series into del Sol?

I dont see where people get "wiring nightmares" at... a wire has two ends, one goes on place, other end goes another place. As for putting an R series in anything... pointless in reguard to anything higher on the scale of go kart.

Re: R-Series into del Sol?

R series are second gen OBD-II, not first gen OBD-II like 96/97 chassis. Plus they're economy motors. Sure, you could do it with alot of fabrication and a custom harness. You could probably put an ITR motor in your sol for the price you'd pay for it all though. Essentially, it's pointless unless you like throwing your money and time away.
