Electrical problems

I have a 99 grand am with 86,000 miles and the high beam on my right side wont work but the low beams and high on the driver side does.. and now my brake lights on the right side wont work either but reverse does light up...and also when i start my car the car will start but sometimes die out after the gauges come on. THen if i hit the gas while this happens it starts fine..these are some of the problems i have had and a mechanic tells me the electrical is to hard to find so any suggestions...?

Re: Electrical problems

Welcome to AF!

It does help to post your engine size..
Sounds like you have your hands full.

First look at the headlight that has the burnt highbeam, probly burnt out.
Also check the fuses in the end dash fuse boxes for the taillights & headlights.

On these tail lights they tend to leak water and corrode the connections and terminals inside the unit.
They can be taken apart and cleaned if the above it the case. Then they need resealed with silicone sealant.

Usually the stealership will just replace the tail lamp housing.
