I am a photographer for a city newspaper's car and home sections.
As you can imagine, my job sometimes allows me the opportunity to meet some interesting people and do some interesting things. Yesterday, I had a very interesting assignment. I was to go out and photograph a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster that is still being driven by it's original owner! Can you believe it?! The guy is 95 years old and this was his first car. He's never gotten rid of it and has driven it every year since 1929! He bought it brand new for $550.00 and he was making 25¢ per hour at the time. He gave me a ride and I would have to say it was probably the most dangerous ride I have been on. I thought we were just going up and around the mountain area where he lives, but he ended up going out onto major roads and crossing heavy traffic. No way did I feel safe in that car. It's amazing how far vehicles have come. In his garage he also had a 1932 Indian motorcylce with sidecar (completely restored) and another '34 Ford that he is restoring as well. Incidently, he also has his pilot's license and still flys his own plane. Here's to living a long and full life!

I can't share anything until it is published (May 6).
I'm not too happy with my photos on this one

Re: So I went for a ride in a 1929 Ford Model A with the original owner
I'll post a link to the story when it is online ... should be May 7.
It was original. The guy shows it and they lose points for anything that is not original. So, our top speed was just over 44 mph down hill ![]() Mileage is unknown as the odometer only has 5 digits and reads 02250. Who knows how many times it has been rolled over and it hasn't worked for some time.
