Clutch going bad?
The last 3 days that I've left to/from work, my clutch feels like its slipping when I first go to pull off. It only does it the first 1 or 2 times I pull off from a dead stop after the car has been sitting for a few hours. Kinda like I'm having to let my clutch warm up.
Is this the first signs of needing a new clutch?

Re: Clutch going bad?
might be, how many miles you got on it. It might just be glazed a little and there really isnt much you can do about it. Because it isnt cheap to replace I would suggest driving it into the ground until you cant take it anymore, get all you can out of it. Thats what I did, and then when you actually replace it it feels that much better.

Re: Clutch going bad?
I'm at 58xxx, it had like 39k on it when I got it so I'm guessing it has the orginal clutch. Whats the average clutch life on this things?

Re: Clutch going bad?
depends on how you drive. Mine lasted me about 107K (but was shot prolly at about 90 and I drove it into the ground). The TOB is probably good for about 3K miles before it's shot (not much you can do about the rattle other than deal with it...nothing hurtful, just annoying). Although, there are exceptions to every rule, and I have heard of some stock and even aftermarket nice clutches blowing at like 5K miles (which would really suck because I spent about 900 bucks for the clutch and flywheel and another 500 for the install...if i had to replace it after only 5K miles I would shit a brick).

Re: Clutch going bad?
My Clutch lasted me about 85,000 miles. I have never been an agressive driver, maybe like once every 3-4 month when im trying peel out..but aside from that I baby my car.
I paid $795.00 for an exedy clutch and the labor. It was well worth my cost, because my car became new again. I too, drove my clutch into the ground. I waited before taking it in to install, to make sure it was bad.. |
