I was thinking I wanted to get a chip for my 97' bird but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars, do any of you know a good chip for a 4.6 on an mn12. And if so what are the main advantages of them, I am a daily driver from school to home and thats over 50 miles up and down hills in one day and i'd just like a bit more power ....

Thats really up to the driver, do you want the extra hp and the increased fuel economy(depends on program and chip) or the improved shift points. These answers are different for everybody and that determines wether the 325 is worth it!

Ok so i understand there are expensive chips and cheapies and the difference is seeming obviously but i want to know if there is any fuel advantage to those $30 - 40 ones on ebay would someone check them out and give me another opinion.

those questions depend on some factors, how hard you drive, city or highway, and your current set-up, some people claim a 1-3mpg gain, but like stated depends on some factors and im not sure about the 30-40 chips on ebay, dont know what software they run. Your best bet would probably be to get it dyno tuned, for the best results.

DO NOT ,DO NOT buy a ebay chip for $30 its two wires in a box.They ask you to splice it between mas air flow and something else i forget. I baught one what a rip off.

I've been thinking about getting a chip myself from blueovalchips.com but I'm curious. The price dosen't bother me if it really does all the things it claims it can do (for example):

-Raise Rev Limiter
-Raise Speed Limiter
-Fix Speedo after gear change (most models)
-Firm up shifts (automatics)
-Naturally aspirated horsepower gains of 15-25hp
-Forced Induction horsepower gains of 50-75hp

So if anyone has first or second hand knowlage about this chip, please share your thoughts .

Yes, a chip from Blue Oval Chips can do all the above.

Most of the people on TCCoA use Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips for their MN-12s/FN-10s.

While I do not have a "Blue Oval" chip.
My EEC has been flashed using the same SCT programming software.

My '96 LX has a limiter which kills it at 114 MPH. I heard it can cost upward around 300 dollars to get the chip flashed and erase the limiter. Now I'm a tad confused. Do they literally erase the code that limits it or do they replace the chip/remove it? If I was going to pay to have that done would it be more worthwhile to just pay a bit extra and buy one of these chips?

what most chips do is override the logic stored on the factory PCM with the logic on the "piggyback" chip. When you get your PCM "reflashed" they permanently load new logic onto the stock chip.
