2nd Gen. Headlamp question

I was looking on a site that tells you how to clean the clear covers of the 2nd Gen headlamps, and i remember seeing a GTO, that looked like they had removed the clear top cover, has anyone else done this and left them off? i think it looks pretty cool with out the clear cover, but i know the clear cover is to protect the lights n everything, or do you guys think that was custom work done or what? if i find the link ill post it.

Re: 2nd Gen. Headlamp question

the lights are still protected. they open up the plastic housing and remove a black piece of plastic hiding the projectors. when re-assembled, you will be able to see the projectors through the clear plastic cover.

Up close it looks like crap with the cover removed. Now if you want to remove the insert and "robo" the headlights thats another story.

Re: 2nd Gen. Headlamp question

what would look better is if you took apart the projectors and painted the silver rear housing black.

Re: 2nd Gen. Headlamp question

This all depends on what year car you have. 94 have a glass cover over the painted plastic, 95+ are painted on the inside of the lexan cover and have no plastic cover thing over the projectors on the inside.

Thats incorrect. I have taken apart two lexan sets and both had the plastic cover.
