Maintance Light

Well yesterday my Maintance Light came on, I have 2003 Accord. I called the dealer and he said I might need an oil change, and that the light will come on every 7500 to 10000 miles. So, I figured that I would just turn off the Maintance Light. Okay well this morning now the Engine Light came on. Did I do something wrong by turning off the Maintance Light? I think I should take it to the dealer. Now he'll yell that I turned off the light and he won't be able to tell what is wrong. What gives? Scott

Re: Maintance Light

As far as I know there is no connection between those two lights.

Go to Autozone and they will read your code for free.

Re: Maintance Light

No problem on reading the CEL. The dealer or you or Autozone can read the stored codes and determine what caused the light. The maintenance light is just that--a reminder to do a maintenance action, usually an oil change.
