Question Lambo Doors

I have a 1994 Pontiac Firebird. I live in Wisconsin and I want to put Lambo doors on my car, however, I do not know anything about doing this myself, so I would probably need it professionally done. Does anyone know of places in Wisconsin that installs the door kit? I would like a couple places so I could compare prices. Also, does anyone have suggestions on what kit to get? My car has T-tops and I don't want the doors to open out at all, just up. I would also prefer to have it automatically open instead of by hand. What would you suggest me doing? Is it that hard to install the lambo kit or not? Please help. Thx!

Re: Lambo Doors

I don't think there will be a lot of us on here who have experience with 'lambo doors'. From a performance standpoint, they serve no purpose except for show cars.

F-body doors are heavier than a dead priest in a buffet line, good luck.

LMAO! Good one!

Ditto on Poor, I'd like to help, but if it ain't making anything faster, run better, or restoring it to original... I keep my mouth shut.

You might wanna try asking one of the import guys... they would be much more familiar (I would think) or do a giigle search on camaro / lambo doors and see what comes up. I'll bet that someone near you is competent enough to do it for you, although I wouldn't really see what is that hard about it. Just changing some hinges and a little wiring, right?

Like Dylan said, maro doors are heavy sumiches. Might have to get them lightened up somehow, otherwise I'm not too sure I'd trust the hinge to work if there's only one. I've seen pictures of maros with the lambo doors (and am personally not a fan of it) but can't remember where I've seen it.

Re: Lambo Doors

Now-now, to each their own. I'm just saying even with everything stripped out of them, these doors are turds.

Have you tried looking in the yellow pages for custom body shops in your area. That's probably your best bet in finding places that will install them for you. Most lambo kits are designed so that the door opens out a little bit, and then lifts up. There's no way it can just directly lift up because the fender is in the way.

Really? I never really saw own in action, but thought that they opened straight up, kind of like on a dual hinge so that they never went out past the body of the car. Guess not, huh?

Re: Lambo Doors

Yeah I never gave it much thought either until I saw a TV special on the Delorean and that was one of the biggest crakups of the design. When the doors lift up, you're lifting up a big ol "L" so the bottom ends petrudes out further than the fender line.

Re: Lambo Doors

Hmmm, no second hinge in the bend of the "L" huh. I guess maybe that and the fact that the owner got busted selling crack or coke or whatever it was out of his dealerships kinda made the whole selling cars thing not work, huh?

Saw one yesterday... now they look kinda goofy. I think the only thing they reaaly had going for them was the gullwings, and it turned out that they were of poor design. Man, he was finished before he ever started.
