92 Taurus Wagon SYSTEM!!??

So, I have a '92 Taurus Stationwagon and I want to get a new stereo so that I could hook up an amp and speaker that I already own in there. Does anyone have any advice for me? Or do you even think my baby could handle the power that could come out of it, she did have a few idling and battery problems, but we turned up her idle control speed and got new terminals and she's running fine now. Or is there any way to hook up the amp to the regular stock speakers --even though that might hurt her more than just getting a stereo?

ALL ADVICE APRECIATED PLEASE?

Re: 92 Taurus Wagon SYSTEM!!??

first of allyou might want to investigate why you had to adjust the idle speed. a new airfilter does wonders. idle speed should not have to be adjusted.
second with a good stereo just replace the factory speakers with some aftermarket speakers of the same size and you shouldnt need an amp.
i bought a pioneer cd player that came with two 6 and a halfs and i bought two 6 x8 and it sounds great
