1999 Throttle hanging up.

Hey all.. I have a 1999 sport with 80k miles .. Here's the problem I'm having and cant seem to find the answer.

It doesnt matter if Im driving or in park, once I hit the throttle to whatever rpm the rpm hangs up for about 3 seconds then releases and comes down.
Another example is when Im driving going whatever speed, for example 50 mph at about 2 1/2k rpms, once I take my foot off the gas to slow down the rpms will stay at 2 1/2k and then after about 3 seconds it will release and come down like normal..

Any suggestions? I was thinking of the IAC vavle on the throttle body!

Re: 1999 Throttle hanging up.

I had a similar problem on my 98' GMC. Dirt and carbon buildup around the throttle blade would cause it to stick. A good wash down with carb cleaner would take care of it for several thousand miles.
