Nitrous for Korean Cars
Does Zex or NOS or anyone else make nitrous systems for new Korean cars? There must be something out there for Tiburons, Elantras and Kia Spectras.

A beta 2.0 engine, the ones in the 4 cyclinder tiburons and elantras can handle a 50 shot pretty easy on stock internals. But make sure that it is a DRY shot and not a WET shot. I have heard of some people having problems with venom not just Korean cars. NOS,Zex and Niturous Express should be just fine.

I suggest you both read this site before you say hyundai's cant handle wet nitrous systems.. as i have used over 80 hp wet kits on j2 and Xd elantras.
also, the newer 2001+ elantra/tiburons have RETURNLESS fuel systems, which makes it virtually impossible to use a dry kit... you will HAVE to use a wet kit for these cars .... this is from experience. http://www.nitrousworld.com

actually, you can spray up to 100 hp wet shot on a stock beta 2 engine.
guys in puerto rico do it all the time, also, the bolt-on turbo kits for the beta 2's add approx 100 hp on stock internals so its DEFINATELY possible to do it.

Especially on Hyundai Performance and HyundaiAftermarket http://hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=29576 http://hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=26191 Quick excer from this topic The second type of nitrous kit is the "wet" style of kit. These kits include carburetor plate systems and add nitrous and fuel at the same time and place (normally 3-4" ahead of the throttle body for fuel injected applications or just under the carb as with plate systems). This type of system will make the upper intake wet with fuel. These systems are best used with intakes designed for wet flow and turbo/supercharged applications. The reason for this is the fact that fuel flows differently than air or nitrous. This difference in flow characteristics can lead to distribution problems and, in some cases, intake backfires. Intakes designed for wet flow (such as with carburetors) cause much less separation of the nitrous/air, and fuel. Because modern fuel injection intakes are designed to flow air only, they have tighter turns and a more compact design as a result. Thus, they generally do not make good candidates for wet flow nitrous systems. Read the replyby JAW021 http://hyundaiperformance.com/forums/topic.php?t=22414 Reply buy Section 8 As for nitrous, this has been covered a billion times...but here goes in a nutshell: wet manifold is safer than dry in terms of block reliability(I mean the reciprocating assembly here) due to the richer mixture. Wet manifold is not as safe in the respect that you are spraying fuel into your intake manifold, and one misfire can send your intake manifold through the hood. Dry is the safest if you keep the shot down to 50 or so. Too big of a shot and you run lean and detonate, possible damaging your block badly. |

Well, thanks for the interesting posts...
but speaking from years of experience, you can still use a wet kit safely on a j1/j2/XD elantra or tiburon. I have done it, lots of others have done it.. no problems have been noted on any of the above sites that you mentiond, and if there would be a problem, its almost 99% of the time the fault of a bad installation, lack of knowledge on the side of the installer, or a bad fuel solenoid that shut off during a run, or perhaps using the stock spark plugs and melting everything in the cylinder, or even using low grade gas and detonating everything to hell . nitrous works. wet kit is still your only choice on a 2001+ elantra. the newer beta 2 engines have a large volume of space in the intake plenum providing excellent nitrous/fuel distribution before entering the runners ! trust me dude. you can easily strip off 1 second or more from your 1/4 mile time with just a 75 wet shot... go higher and the performance just gets better and better !

I only have several years experience using nitrous oxiode myself. But too many people have said and continue to say the same thing I learned. I would not use 100 wet shot on a stock internal beta 2.0. If I was running a turbo and wanted to spool it up with updated pistons rods etc, then yes I would. Tell you what I will post a message on Hyundai Performance and see what they say ok?
