Crankshaft Position Sensor
I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and the RPM gauge quit working while driving down the intersate. The car also felt like it missed at the same time the gauge quit. From reading past posts, it looks like it is the crankshaft position sensor. Is this hard to fix myself? If not, can anyone give me a hint as to where I can locate this on my engine and the easiest way to change it.
Thanks for your help |

Re: Crankshaft Position Sensor
Not sure where the crankshaft position sensor is but when mine fried it also took out the ignition module, might be why yours is missing now. Mine is a 97 gt.

Definately the CPS. Mine did the exact same thing. Had the CPS changed and problem is now solved. Had to bring mine to mechanic though to do it. Probably not a hard one to do if one has the time and/or tools. |
