96 grand cherokee recalls...

there are 4 recalls for the grand cherokee as of right now.
1. PCM reprogram.
2. Cat replacement.
3. front rotors.
4. and a trans reprogram or sensor.

I just found this out and so I am getting them all fixed.

Re: 96 grand cherokee recalls...

when you take it back to the dealer, do you need any paperwork or anything? or do you just let them know that you want the work to be done because there was a recall for it?

If your vehicle is involved in a recall you will get a notice from the manufacturer.
I'm very sceptical about there being any recent recalls for a 1996.
If you think there are incomplete recall repairs for your Jeep you should contact Chrysler or a Chrysler/Jeep dealership.

Re: 96 grand cherokee recalls...

the problem is they already have my jeep now as we speak, because they are doing other repairs.

but i remember almost a year ago receiving a post card or something saying there was something being recalled. after that notification, i moved and lost the card but i never got the repair done. when i asked them about it, they are telling me that there are no outstanding recalls on my jeep.

shouldn't it still show up?

Re: 96 grand cherokee recalls...

Yes, they enter the information into their computers that the work was or was not done. That way somebody can not come back into another dealer in the future and have the same parts replaced or repaired.
Curiousity got to me and I tried that with an old Ford I had. Got all work done on the vehicle and 6 months later the part they replaced went bad, so I tried to go to another dealer to get it replaced again. They punched up the VIN and seen I had it replaced at another dealer and seen the 90 day warranty had expired and charged me for the work. The VIN is usually how they can keep track of the vehicle and all recall work that has or needs to be done.
