Well someone's glad it wasn't something else vibrating...

Soup powder 'not smartest thing' to post, warn police

16.10.2002 4.05 pm

Posting powdered foodstuffs overseas is not the smartest thing to do in the existing climate of international terrorism, police warned today.

Police were called to a Greenlane post office today after white powder was found leaking out of a mail bag.

The powder was found to be soup mix from a food parcel posted overseas.

However, incident controller Senior Sergeant Sharon Stephens has warned it was "not a good time to be posting such things" in the mail from overseas.

Police and postal authorities have been on alert for suspicious parcels after deadly anthrax spores were sent through the mail in America last year and was followed by several hoaxes in New Zealand.

It was the second suspicious package found in a mail bag and dealt with by police today.

A package sent to a rest home resident in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill was investigated by police after noises were heard coming from the package.

Police said the package contained an electric toothbrush which had been activated in transit.

Which brings us to the following quote from Fight Club....

Narrator: Was it ticking?
Airport Security Officer: Actually throwers don't worry about ticking 'cause modern bombs don't tick.
Narrator: Sorry, throwers?
Airport Security Officer: Baggage handlers. But, when a suitcase vibrates, then the throwers gotta call the police.
Narrator: My suitcase was vibrating?
Airport Security Officer: Nine times out of ten it's an electric razor, but every once in a while...
[whispering]
Airport Security Officer: it's a dildo. Of course it's company policy never to, imply ownership in the event of a dildo... always use the indefinite article "a dildo", never "your dildo".
Narrator: I don't own...
