Re: 89 corvette wont start
what would cause it to flood the motor with fuel, would the fuel pressure regulator being bad cause it to flood the motor or cause it to run lean

Re: 89 corvette wont start
A vacuum leak could cause it to flood. Where are you puttin' in the startin' fluid - right at the throttle body? Or further down - ahead of the mass air sensor?
A bad regulator could cause many problems. Pluggin' in a PSI testor to the schraeder valve is pretty easy on a TPI. |

Re: 89 corvette wont start
I doubt it's the fuel regulator.
It normally reads pressure, and once proper pressure is attained, it opens a valve that allows excess pressure (fuel) to return to the tank. If it goes bad, I don't know what safety is built-in, to allow pressure from building up to much. I don't think that if it IS bad, it would cut off completely the fuel flow. How many miles? Any DTC codes? Do you know how to 'jump' the link for DTC, with a paper clip'? Did it start all of a sudden, or has it slowly gotten worse? |
