Is it worth fixing?

My sister-in-law is giving me an 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser that has approx. 75,000 miles on it. The transmission needs to be replaced. There is some moderate rusting. It will need a major tune up, fuel filter change, brake inspection, etc. The interior is in alright condition. The drivers seat is beaten up bad.
My question is, is this vehicle worth putting a rebuilt transmission in and basically making it worth driving again.

Thanks.

Re: Is it worth fixing?

I believe that it may not be worth it. a new trans will run you a couple hundred dollars. as far as the rust goes you can get UV bondo. then sand it and repaint it. as far as a tune-up you can get service manuals to show you how to do a tune-up. the seats about 200-350 dollars a peice. umm you can get a rebuild kit for the trans. or you can try a junk yard. it all depends on how you want to restore the vehicle. anyway hope this helps.
