What color coolent should I be using for my 95 Aurora
OK, I bought this aurora about 2 weeks ago ... i had to change the alternator and had to pour out the good coolent that was already in there. I refilled it with water until I got to the LUBE place for oil change and coolent flush and fill. The LUBE shop went to the computer and started filling the system with the green stuff.
My question is ... does this aluminum block take the DEX stuff (pink) or the regular (green) stuff. Will the regular coolent make an aluminum engine run hotter? B/C my temp gauge goes up to (one full notch past the mid point and stays there). No pinging no strange drivability problems (YET). Is this temp normal? What coolent should I be using? |

temp is normal, coolant is wrong.
flush green asap, put pink Dex-cool 50/50 water solution in, and don't forget about supplement tablets. |

Re: What color coolent should I be using for my 95 Aurora
no,,this is not true.the 95' aurora came from the factory with traditional green antifreeze.96'and newer used dex-cool (pink) As long as you change your antifreeze as routine maintenance, you will have no problems.GM has had numerous complaints and problems associated with dex-cool.(turns to sludge and gums up cooling system) I DO NOT recommend using dex-cool.use traditional green antifreeze and change every 2-3 years
