I have an 89 corolla that is carbeurated 4af. Can I use an injected engine and put my carb. and intake on it.Is the ports on the cylinder head the same on a carb. manifold as the injected manifold? Thanks for any and all help. Robert

Re: engine swap

An engine doesn't really "know" the difference between a carb and EFI, but where you may have an issue is with the ignition -- the 4AFE uses a crank position sensor and a computer controlled distributor -- you will probably have to swap your old ignition components as well.

Re: engine swap

it really depends on what kind of performance you want i think that the 4afe isn't really worth working on, if your going to swap then go with a 4age your to choice to choose from 16v,20v,big port, small port and it all should plug in
