94 Lumina idle lowers & sometimes stalls at stop signs etc

94 Lumina V6 75,000 miles. Engine starts fine and idles alright for a short time but then looses power (idles down) then back up then back down etc....... dies at stop signs but will start right back up again......driving down the road it kind of cuts out but then starts running normally again on its own.

we have replaced the plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, timing sensor, catalytic converter, fuel pump checks out ok and no codes show up.

what should we be checking next? thanks in advance for your resonse.

Welcome to AF. I'd check the fuel pressure while driving, also try cleaning the egr and/or disconnect it for test purposes only. You could disconnect the maf and see how it runs also.

Clean the throttle plate and bore within the throttle body. Check all vacuum hoses.

Re: 94 Lumina idle lowers & sometimes stalls at stop signs etc

Thank you for the suggestions....although i havent figured out how to check the fuel pressure going down the road i think we've tried everything else and still having problems. we cleaned up the EGR valve, the throttle plate and bore, all vacuum hoses appear ok....we tested the MAP sensor with a voltage meter (instructions online from a google search) and it tested ok.

any other ideas?? sure appreciate your help!

You can tape the fuel pressure gage hose to the w/s as you drive, becareful make sure it has no leaks, of course.
